Amber - Calming, Integrative, Uplifting

Amber is not a crystal, it is a fossil resin, usually the sap of a tree.  Sometimes this sap has trapped an insect within it, or it can include pollen, a leaf, or other vegetable matter.

Most amber is golden, ranging from pale yellow, through orange to dark brown.  It can be very clear or opaque, sometimes mixing the two in one piece to form a pattern.  Sometimes it is chemical or heat-treated to create other colours, a rich red or blue or green.  It can also be gently heated so it is malleable, allowing it to be formed into shapes or to surround other objects (often called Amberite if this has been done with it).  Some amber is hand carved, resulting in beautiful glowing shapes.  It is popular in jewellery, both as natural pieces and polished.  Wearing an amber necklace is said to protect against diseases of the throat and to alleviate goitre.

As amber is a physical connector between human, animal and plant, so it is also a connector within the 4-body system (spiritual/emotional/mental/physical) and can help you feel more secure as a part of physical existence.  It enables you to get in touch with your power and use it wisely.

Amber carries solar energy, it brings warmth to your life.  It also helps you feel less stressed, more open and cheerful.  It encourages you to release poverty-consciousness and focus on the richness of life so you can create what you desire.  It allows you to accept help where you need it.  It helps the body to heal by transmuting negative into positive on all levels.

There are many instances of amber in history and mythology, it is one of the stones in the breastplate of the High Priest, an amber goblet was supposed to reveal the presence of poison, it has been used as a symbol of honesty in promises and as a talisman for warriors.  Amber has been used for many physical conditions - powdered amber externally to stop bleeding, internal to alleviate stomach diseases, amber oil for hysteria.  It is also said to improve kidney and bladder conditions.

Amber incense can be used to purify a space and in some cultures is used after childbirth as it is very cleansing but mellow compared with sage or other cleansing smoke.
