MOONSTONE
Closely related to Labradorite, Moonstone is one of Mother Nature's marvels. At first sight Moonstone can be a rather boring shade of brown or grey or even slightly orange, although some is more pearly or off-white but take a piece of Moonstone in your hand and tilt it so the light refracts off it and a wonderful iridescence appears, sometimes a vivid blue or violet (rainbow moonstone), sometimes a more delicate moonlight sheen. Even Plagioclase, a less gemmy form of Moonstone, has a sheen to it.
Moonstone balances the emotions
and can bring much peace. It also carries Goddess energy and can help the
female intuitive side of the personality find its place alongside the more
practical male side so they work in harmony rather than alternately. It
brings insight, perception and discernment, encouraging you to trust your
intuition when making decisions.
Moonstone is good at times of
new beginnings,
helping you realise these are simply the fruition of endings and
recognising that the ups and downs are just endlessly changing cycles. It
helps you absorb what is needed rather than what is wanted, maintaining and
sustaining and understanding the path you chose.
The finest Moonstone carries a
very spiritual energy, the essence of Light. It uses its own body of light
at physical level and can help those invoking the Christ Energy. It
cleanses negativity from the chakras.
Moonstone is particularly useful in easing pregnancy and childbirth, PMS, change of life symptoms and any disorders related to water, such as swellings. It has been used for insect bites and stings. It is also said to help alleviate degenerative disorders of eyes, skin and hair, and to aid circulatory, digestive and elimination systems. It may also enhance assimiliation of nutrients and assist elimination of toxins.
It is a very beautiful and
magickal stone,
particularly so in gem form. Priestesses in Atlantis used
to wear moonstone necklaces and have them set into diadems. Moonstone also
works well with many other crystals to soften and enhance their effect so it can
be easier to absorb. It is possible that if you bathe a moonstone in
dew and hold it to your third eye you will experience the energy of Faerie.
